Many people often ask us what the difference is between an entry door and an exterior door, in some cases, it is not clear which they currently have. Let us help you distinguish between the two.
1. An entry door is typically the first thing people see when they come into your home, and therefore it needs to be striking and complement any other design features in your home. Entry doors are usually made of wood, or metal and tend to be solid core for added security.
2. An exterior door is used for exiting and entering the house, as well as providing a barrier against intruders trying to gain access from outside as well as helping reduce heating/cooling costs by sealing off the heat loss/gain from entering or exiting a room. In addition, an exterior door can often be more secure than an interior one because of its location on the exterior of a building where it receives more protection from the elements. Exterior doors are normally made of wood or metal and can be found in a variety of styles, finishes, and materials to suit any home.
3. Entry doors are usually found on the front of a house, while exterior doors can be found on any side.
4. Entry doors are made of wood or metal, while exterior doors can be made of wood, metal, fiberglass, vinyl-coated steel panels, aluminum panels, or glass (although many modern entry and exterior doors consist primarily or entirely of glass). There are many different styles to choose from – you’ll need to find one that suits your taste and needs best!
